Why I sold my old wheel and bought a SpinOlution. - M. Manigross

Pinterest (3).png

I’m Martha Manigross, and I live in Orange, VA. I’ve been spinning for about 3 years.

I started out trying a spindle, but didn’t really get the hang of it. Then I ordered a Lendrum, which was great to start on, but I soon realized, I was going to need a different wheel to handle the type of spinning I wanted to do.

  • I needed a wheel that was capable of holding more yarn at once, or larger, bulky yarn, without constantly having to switch out the entire flyer system.

  • A wheel I could spin thin or thick and funky yarn on.

  • A wheel that I could easily take with me to spin groups, or move around my house.

  • A wheel that was quiet, and easy to use. I have some back issues, so treadling became more difficult.

A friend ordered the Firefly, and after seeing it in person and trying it myself, I really fell in love with this little wheel with the BIG capabilities. I can spin fast – or I can slow it down for art yarn. I can spin thin and thick. I can pop it into my rolling suitcase, and go to spin groups.

I got the Firefly with all the attachments – the 8 & 32 ounce flyers, the Lazy Kate, and the skein winder. It’s a great set of tools!

"Why I purchased a wheel made in the USA." - C. Troia

I love the fact that the wheels are designed by an engineer that is also an American Veteran and made in the USA. All the SpinOlution Innovative features; quick flyer and bobbin exchange, no oil needed EVER! And best of all, the ratios that enable hand spinners to create the chunkiest of art yarns to the thinnest lace all on the same wheel.

I own a Mach III simply because it is the best functioning wheel around. I can spin ANYTHING on it. The Queen Bee, which accompanies me to my Farmers’ Market each week and is an adorable workhorse. The FireFly, fun to bring along anywhere, including the car, a plane, etc. It has a super long lasting battery and is particularly nice to ply on.

I have spun and created award winning yarns using my SpinOlution wheels; super lace weight English Angora from my bunnies, to squishy soft worsted weight yarns from my flock of Cormo sheep, to big, funky, chunky, art yarns.

"Why SpinOlution makes the best wheels for production spinning." - K. Knispel

I am the owner of Dakota Carding and Wool Co. and a shepherd raising BFL sheep and Angora goats for their awesome fibers!

I appreciate the willingness of this company to keep improving their products and expanding the design of their wheels to meet the demands of hand spinners around the world.

I have been spinning yarn for 25 years and I own several spinning wheels but my Mach is my go to wheel. The Mach is a workhorse production wheel that is trustworthy and dependable, spinning lace weight to chunky bulk weight yarns. The internal bearings and heavy wood construction are my two favorite design elements of the SpinOlution wheels.

Melissa Yoder Ricks of Wild Hare Fiber reviews SpinOlution wheels

I do lots of the creative textured yarns, and love the Mach III for those, because of the low ratio and the super-jumbo bobbin. When I'm traveling/teaching, I use the King Bee, which can do pretty much the same things as the Mach III, just in a smaller skein (small is relative though -- the 8 oz. bobbin on the King Bee is still twice as big as most other wheels bobbins).

The Firefly I primarily use for churning out singles that end up being plied on one of the other wheels...its ultimately portable (for when I'm traveling with the family and have NO ROOM) and also great to spin on when I just feel lazy.

I recommend Spinolution to everyone -- which wheel depends a bit on what type of spinning they play to do and their budget.  I'm a dealer -- have sold these wheels to brand new beginners, people with health/mobility issues, hard core 'art yarn' spinners, as well as your typical spinner wanting to make knitting yarns.

I was a loyal Schacht Matchless spinner for over 15 years, making miles and miles of smooth yarns for knitting. Then I got bored, discovered the world of creative textured 'art' yarns. At the time, Schacht did not have a jumbo flyer of any kind for their wheels, so I started searching for another wheel. I tried several different wheels, but they all fell short.

Then I heard about Spinolution wheels. Having never seen one in person, I was nevertheless intrigued, ordered one and quickly fell in love! I really really love the responsive treadling, ease of changing bobbins, and innovation that these wheels have to offer.

Karen Champion of Blazing Star Ranch talks about which spinning wheel is best for air travel

Pinterest (9).png

I am Karen Champion. owner of Blazing Star Ranch. I raise alpacas and have a fiber, yarn and spinning wheel store in Englewood, CO.  I have been spinning for 5 years or so. I have used many different wheels and like different ones for different reasons.

I love the Spinolution King and Queen Bee's for their portability and small footprint. I think they are the ideal travel wheels, especially if flying! They are a breeze to set up. I like the ease of changing bobbins and the nylon pins instead of hooks!

One of my customers uses her Queen Bee to spin at the Denver Art Museum. She demonstrates spinning there on a weekly basis.

Alice Scholze talks about how SpinOlution is the best wheel for spinners with ankle pain

I got my King Bee last year in January and I love love love it! I have some ankle issues and the King Bee works perfectly, I had another wheel before but couldn’t use it because it made my ankle hurt. I heard that Spinolution works just fine with joint issues so I gave it a go. And what can I say, it does work beautifully.

I can spin everything from Lace to Bulky

and I can use it for a long time before my ankle starts to hurt. I love the design of the King Bee, the workmanship, the size of the bobbins and that it folds down. I have very little space so this was another plus for getting the King Bee. It was worth every penny! Thank You.

Christiane Knight talked about why SpinOlution is the best wheel for spinners with knee pain

I am totally in love with what I do, which is blend amazing fibers, colors, and textures into a tactile rainbow of awesome. I feel lucky that I get to do what I love as a way to make a living, and I celebrate it every day.

I started spinning on a drop spindle, self taught thanks to a little pamphlet and You Tube. It was one of those things where you start doing something and you know immediately that you were meant do it? That's how spinning is for me. I spindle spun for about two years then got my first wheel. I was already making highly textured, structured yarns on the drop spindle, and that's remained my favorite types to create, both on a spindle and now on my wheels.

I currently own a Mach II and hope to add a King Bee to the collection soon! SpinOlution wheels are amazing because the unique treadling action allows me to spin even when my bad knees are acting up, without causing additional pain...and because they are so easy to spin on, and allow me to create any type or style of yarn that I desire.

Leah Rosenthal talks about why SpinOlution is the best spinning wheel for spinners with joint pain.

Pinterest (13).png

I was introduced to spinning as a child but put it down until I was an adult. I started back up after going to a fair in 2007 and trying a Matchless. Spinning came naturally so I started saving for a wheel while spinning with a homemade drop spindle.

During my search I discovered Spinolution. I think the ergonomic design and balance are what sold me. I have a degenerative condition in my major joints and spine. Most wheels are supremely uncomfortable, but with a break here and there I can spin for hours on my SpinOlution wheel.

I spin a wide variety of yarns. From lace weight to bulky, cotton thread and yarn, and a variety of art yarns. Right now I'm learning to spin cobweb lace, and expand my art yarn skills. I am proud to be a SpinOlution Dealer. I live in Vermont, close to the Canadian boarder near Montreal. I would love to help you select your Spinolution wheel.

Tia Watson talks about her long search for the perfect Spinning wheel and how she found SpinOlution E

Pinterest (16).png

I have been spinning since 2004. I was always searching for the perfect wheel. After purchasing my Mach III, I felt I no longer had to search. I had finally found “the one.” My Mach III setup includes the 8oz flyer/bobbins, 32oz art yarn flyer/bobbins, and the lazy kate.

I love the lazy kate. I like having the option to ply from it when it is attached to the wheel. The Mach III is sturdy and is built like a piece of furniture. It is not a lightweight wheel and this is something I really like about it! The weight gives the drive wheel lots of momentum. The drive wheel turns smoothly and the treading is effortless.

Art yarns and textured yarns (spun from fleece) are my primary focus though I do spin a variety of other yarns too. My favorite and most used wheel is my Mach III. I have owned many different wheels. My current inventory is as follows:

  • Spinolution Mach III

  • Hansen Mini Spinner

  • Lendrum Complete DT

  • Majacraft Rose

  • Schacht Matchless

  • Schacht Sidekick

My Mach III is my “go to” wheel. It is big, beautiful, and spins like no other wheel on the market!
